Trampoline as Dog Escape Pod?

June 18th, 2008

A trampoline provides bounce for dog escape and is on the run in northern England. The brilliant dog, Harvey, catapults himself over the fence to doggy freedom.

Laura Kidson is the dog’s owner and her children were devastated by their pet’s disappearance. “The fence isn’t all that high but he couldn’t get over it on his own and must have used the trampoline to bounce himself into my neighbor’s garden and get out,” Kidson told The Northern Echo. (I would like to see pictures of this as I am wondering if the dog was able to just jump from the trampoline frame over the fence. I am having a hard time visualizing Harvey bouncing on a trampoline and then rocketing over the fence. I wonder if someone left a gate open???)

“He’s something of an escape artist and he has got out before but not for a long time and we were just starting to think that he’d stopped all that.” (Why would a dog magically stop using a method of escape? If I didn’t want to lose my dog I would have moved the trampoline. This story is in the news and it smells fishy to me.)

The three-year-old Harvey had been known to bounce on the trampoline before with daughter Chloe and her cousin Morgan as they practiced their highest leaps.

“My daughter won’t stop crying and I’m really worried someone might have him and be mistreating him, because he’s such a lovely gentle dog,” Kidson said.

“I got him just after I had Chloe and she loves him. One of my real worries is that they are the most stolen dog. I hope no-one has picked him up off the street to sell him.

“I have phoned the police and the council dog warden, but no-one has seen or heard of him and we’re getting desperate.”

Dog Found After 18 Months

dog found 18 months of missing in Ohio
June 12, 2008

Two dog that went missing (likely dognapped) in January, 2007 from North Carolina were located in Middletown, Ohio. The dognappers apparently drove the dogs about 650 miles for reasons unknown. One dog is a mixed breed, Chrissy, was held at a pet shelter until such time that she can be reunited with her owners.

Detective Sgt. Britt Carter, of the Pender County, N.C., sheriff’s office, said that Chrissy’s owners were determined to find their dog. The Detective also stated that Chrissy and another dog “went missing” on Jan. 5, 2007. The second dog was returned to the owners. A series of recent tips led authorities to Middletown, which is about 30 miles north of Cincinnati. A woman there claimed the dog had been giver to her and that she had no idea that it had belonged to someone else. Does anyone really believe that? Someone swipes a couple of dogs, drives them 650 miles… to give them away??? Authorities aren’t going to charge her so nobody is on the hook for the thief.

Dog Fighting Book on Amazon

June 8th, 2008

Can you believe that Amazon offers a how-to book on the “sport” dog fighting??? Amazon should pull the plug on the book right away. The world is messed up enough without providing a blueprint for illegal and cruel activities! Perhaps I am missing something, but IMHO the book linked to below should be PULLED! The Dog Pit - Or, How To Select, Breed, Train And Manage Fighting Dogs, With Points As To Their Care In Health And Disease - 1888 (History Of Fighting Dogs Series) (History of Fighting Dogs Series)

I am considering holding a contest for determining the largest dog in the world and I am looking for ideas and advice on how this may be accomplished. Is anyone familiar with similar contests that have been held in the past?
