Dog Found After 18 Months

dog found 18 months of missing in Ohio
June 12, 2008

Two dog that went missing (likely dognapped) in January, 2007 from North Carolina were located in Middletown, Ohio. The dognappers apparently drove the dogs about 650 miles for reasons unknown. One dog is a mixed breed, Chrissy, was held at a pet shelter until such time that she can be reunited with her owners.

Detective Sgt. Britt Carter, of the Pender County, N.C., sheriff’s office, said that Chrissy’s owners were determined to find their dog. The Detective also stated that Chrissy and another dog “went missing” on Jan. 5, 2007. The second dog was returned to the owners. A series of recent tips led authorities to Middletown, which is about 30 miles north of Cincinnati. A woman there claimed the dog had been giver to her and that she had no idea that it had belonged to someone else. Does anyone really believe that? Someone swipes a couple of dogs, drives them 650 miles… to give them away??? Authorities aren’t going to charge her so nobody is on the hook for the thief.

I just learned that James Willis, 52, was convicted of stealing Chrissy and the other dog, which is named Damon. They were convicted in the Pender County community of Rocky Point, which is near Wilmington, North Carolina. Willis stole the dogs because he upset with the owners allowing dogs to remain outside.

Actually, Damon was stolen during the summer of 2007 and was never taken to Ohio. He was recovered at the home of Robert Hoggard, the friend that Jim was living with at the time.

Jim Willis stole this dog and there were several well known people in rescue who arranged transport of this dog, as well as the woman who had the dog when it was recovered. Everyone involved in this knew the dog was stolen. What they didn’t count on was that someone would ever find the dog.

There is a lot of evidence that is being turned over to the authorities for review and I feel certain the woman who had the dog, as well as the people who arranged transport will be charged.

Stay tuned, there will be a lot more information on this soon!

Yes, willis was convicted of this 1, one animals supposed theft. There really was no theft and it is his crazy ex-wife Betty Broadhurst and her girlfriend from Athens Ga, Marla Gray who orchestrated the whole point the finger at Jim scam. Sicko’s and where is the animal going to end up? One can hope not back in the neglectful hands of its previous owners.
